I think Ackles did a fine job directing. It was better than the episode he directed last year (which suffered from badly paced flashbacks), but not as good as Weekend At Bobby's, which had a better script.

The end was a little cheesy, but overall it was a good monster of the week ep. As for Dean killing it with the knife, we have to remember that all he, or Sam, had to do was stop it's heart from beating. No magic was required. So Dean killed it by stabbing it in the heart. As for Sam saying he's done hunting after the tablet story arc, thus ending the series, I wouldn't read too much into that. Both Sam and Dean have said they were giving up hunting over the years. Both Padalecki and Ackles said they want to be back for seasons 9 and 10.

I thought this episode was kinda boring. And the end fight was anti-climactic for me as well.Did Dean kill her with plain old Rubys knife ?? . . . And i agree with Sams flashback coming off a bit corny and cheesey. It reminded me of a laundrey detergent commercial lol.

But I do agree that I hope he gets over it and stay in the game. He can find a woman and hunt with her he has proven it before. Although one was a demon, but they have shown couples who were hunter. And yes one or both has die, but hey he and dean our technical a couple and they have fight both sides and came back.

I like it, and get where u are coming from about Sam, seeing as season one is playing on tnt right now. I get that they are trying to give Sam that life he miss, the thing is that Sam always fought being a hunter vs. Dean. Even when the angel wipe their mind, to see if they would still choose a life as hunter. Sam only stay in the game because he thought he have to for his brother. And at times he did, I mean when dean came back from hell, he was different, and over time he lost confident in his self. Our the will to fight and now he has it. Which make Sam more willing to leave and get on with bus life. Remember there were times when dean told him to quit, go to school, start a family.
