Family Guy Season 16 Episode 18 Review: HTTPete

Family Guy should have made Family Guy Season 16 Episode 18 a Six Second Episode because that's about all the time it took for me to become completely bored with Hammer and the Millennial saga.
Every piece of commentary made about Millennials and their many, many issues as well as our addiction to the Internet is stuff that has already been done and said before.
Still, watching Peter transform into a Millennial after trying vaping was funny. Getting schooled by Hammer on the ways of Millennialism was even funnier.
The great thing about Peter is that it doesn't take him long to catch on to something new. He would be perfect cult material because he's so easily influenced. Can you imagine Peter in a cult? That would be hilarious.
But he's also a dumbass which is why we love him so much.
He was the logical choice to become Pawtucket Brewery's new Social Media Manager after Hammer's untimely demise.
I like that Family Guy didn't use another actress to voice Angela even though Angela was at the meetings and Hammer's funeral.
It was weird not having her speak, but it would have been disrespectful to Carrie Fisher's memory to have anyone else play that role -- I think anyway -- so kudos to Family Guy for not going that route.
Peter being Social Media Manager after spending only a few days with Hammer was ridiculous, but who says an old dog can't learn new tricks.
As annoying as he was, Hammer was a decent teacher -- and, well, being a Millennial doesn't take that much effort either which is right up Peter's alley.
It was too bad Peter changed from his Millennial-wear back to his regular clothes after Hammer died because I would have loved to have seen the reaction of the guys to Peter's Millennial look.
Quagmire would have had a field day. Despite his own addictions, he still the only one with any sense in the group. And he's still the smartest of the bunch.
As he pointed out, the youth of today has no attention span, but what he forgot to say is that it's no longer just the young folks that have attention span issues.

We all do. The majority of us are addicted to our screens whether it's our phones or our computers or our tablets. Our faces are always interacting with something other than a person. That's the norm and it's not going to change.
When Peter went into a server room instead of the gender neutral bathroom he was supposed to go into and inadvertently destroyed the Internet it should have woken everyone up. The fog of staring at a screen all day should have lifted, but instead, not having the Internet created chaos.
If you think about it, even if you aren't a screen starer, not having the internet is a scary thought.
Think about how much our lives have changed because of the internet, and how much it has become a part of everything we do in our daily lives. Not having the internet would cause chaos like it did in the streets of Quahog.
Millennials wouldn't be the only ones going crazy. Everyone would be.
They'd be the worse off because they wouldn't know what to do with themselves, but we'd all be affected if the internet came crashing down.
We're all addicted to it, and it permeates every aspect of our life -- including something as inane as Uber. Who catches rides in cabs anymore? Seriously.
Peter was lucky that he didn't get strung up alive for destroying the internet, but he tried his best to bring it back around without the use of technology.
It didn't work very well.

One of the greatest (and possibly funniest) moments of the installment was when Peter brought in a group of black teens for a burn loop after making a mean comment to Joe about his useless feet.
I don't know if you were supposed to laugh at that lest you offend someone, but I laughed. The combination of the diss and the loop was just too much.
"HTTPete" wasn't the greatest, but it got its message across -- and even a little slap in the face to Matt Damon for his support of Harvey Weinstein -- and that's what Family Guy is all about.
