Mayans M.C. Season 2 Episode 4 Review: Lahun Chan

Are you guys okay?

The bombs dropped on Mayans M.C. Season 2 Episode 4 had to have been felt for miles and miles.

First and foremost, Felipe Reyes, you are the father.

The Prospect - Mayans M.C. Season 2 Episode 4

Felipe always knew there was a possibility that he could be Miguel's father.

On Mayans M.C. Season 2 Episode 2 , as Felipe was taking Dita home he asked, "Did you ever find out," but she feigned ignorance.

She knew exactly what he was referring to. Dita knew that he was asking if she ever found out the identity of Miguel's birth father.

Looking back at their encounter in his truck, there is no doubt that Felipe knew he could have fathered Miguel, and that is probably the main reason he escaped the cartel years ago.

They were both married -- and, yes, learning of their affair would have devastated Marisol -- but Jose Galindo would have murdered Felipe, brutally.

Jose probably would have murdered Dita and her unborn baby, as well.

Felipe knew this, so he fled the cartel, leaving Mexico behind to start a new life.

M.C. On A Mission - Mayans M.C. Season 2 Episode 4

Felipe's decision to settle somewhere so close to the border is perplexing.

One would imagine that if he feared for his life, he would get as far away from Mexico as he could.

Choosing to live so close, Felipe had to know there was a possibility that his sons would become entangled with the cartel someday just as he did.

And that's exactly what happened.

When EZ, Angel, and Miguel find out they're brothers, everyone in Santo Padre and the surrounding areas better take cover because there is going to be an explosion.

It's anyone's guess who's going to handle this news the worst, but my money is on Angel.

EZ: It wasn't my place to tell you. Dad knew I saw it. I finally asked him about it.
Angel: He said nothing.
EZ: Yeah. Everything that's gone down between us Angel, even if I could've.
Angel: You should've told me. He should've told me.
EZ: Pop?
Angel: Yeah, he never trusted me with anything, mom neither.
EZ: Come on, man. That's not fair.
Angel: Fair! You have no fucking idea. Fair? Every time I walked into a room for as long as I can remember, Mom and Pop, there'd be this slight letdown. You know, disappointment cause it was me instead of you. Oh man, saying it out loud sounds fucking pathetic, but you live with that for twenty years or more.
EZ: I'm sorry.
Angel: It ain't your fault, but sometimes man I fucking hated you, just the sight of you. It'd be a reminder that I'm some kind of fucking you know, some kind of idiot, a fucking mistake.
EZ: Angel, nobody ever thought that.
Happy: Poor little Angel, nobody loved him.

Angel is a ticking time bomb. He poured his heart out to EZ on Happy's kitchen floor about his lifelong feelings of inadequacy.

He even mentioned that he feels like their father never trusted him enough to tell him anything.

Angel has always felt like an outsider in his family, and this information is going to break him.

On the other hand, EZ could be the brother with the loudest bang.

EZ is calmer and passive. He rarely displays moments of impulsiveness or anger. He thinks things out, as evident in his investigation of Happy.

But as we all know the longer the fuse, the bigger the explosion.

EZ has always tried to defend Felipe to Angel, but with each skeleton that falls out of Felipe's closet the more leverage EZ loses.

Felipe should have sat down his sons a long time ago and explained his past. They deserved to know.

Instead, they just keep getting blindsided as more information about their fathers past comes to light.

Emily Galindo - Mayans M.C. Season 2 Episode 4

It appears that Sutter has chosen not to dedicate very much time to EZ and Emily's romantic history, but this revelation will affect them both.

EZ will have to come to terms with the fact that not only does the woman he loves have a child, but she has a child with his brother.

That is something I fear Angel may have to come to terms with as well.

I'm still on the fence about the paternity of Adelita's baby.

Dita: May I tell you a secret? The reason my family won't leave me alone is that they're afraid I may try and hurt myself. The doctor in this building is a shrink — the fire.
Felipe: At the house.
Dita: I was home alone. I saw that beautiful, fierce blaze coming up over the hill. It was amazing. I felt like it was coming for me, Ignacio.
Felipe: Jesus Christ.
Dita: I had nothing left. I ignored the evacuations. I hid in the wine cellar when Miguel's men came looking for me. Couldn't really feel the heat. I must have been in shock by then. There was a firefighter, a young Mexican man, looked like he was about fifteen. He pulled me out of the flames.
Felipe: I'm sorry.
Dita: I'm not. I realize that the reason I was saved is because I still have things I need to do.
Felipe: I guess I'm one of those things, huh?
Dita: I never did a paternity or DNA test on Miguel. I didn't have to. I knew he was your son.
Felipe: Jesus, Dita. What? Does anyone else know?
Dita: No, of course not, and no one ever will. Sessions over. We'll do this again.
Felipe: Can't fucking wait.

The relationship between Miguel and Adelita has shifted this season.

There's a softness between them. She speaks to him with concern about his well being. He frequently displays lingering glances at her stomach.

It is obvious that he wants to protect her, and it's hard to determine whether the reason is business or personal.

When Adelita decided to sacrifice herself, Miguel tried to stop her. After Hobart hauled her away in handcuffs, Miguel beat his fists against the wall in frustration.

Maybe I'm reading to much into it, but it seems like there is more to their relationship than business.

What happens when Miguel finds out that he isn't a Galindo after all? Does he still get to be the king of the cartel empire?

Since his brother is dead, there is no one else to carry on the family legacy.

He knows there is more to Dita's Felipe story than he got from her on the ride home, so he will probably be the first to discover the truth.

If Emily doesn't beat him to it. She seen Felipe's truck outside of Dita's doctor's office, and she found the picture of Felipe in Dita's room.

Growing Apart - Mayans M.C. Season 2 Episode 4

The puzzle pieces are stacking up, and it won't be too much longer before someone figures out the truth.

If it is Emily who figures it out, who do you think she will tell first? Miguel or EZ?

The test of her true feelings and the trust she has in her marriage will be revealed by who she decides to go to.

EZ: You know who we are? Nothing?
Happy: I don't need to know who you are.
Angel: Why is that?
Happy: Because when this is over either I'm dead, or you're dead.

She could choose to approach Felipe or Dita first, but I don't think that would be a wise decision.

For whatever reason that hasn't been revealed yet, Dita hates Emily. She even referred to her as "white devil."

If Emily does discover the truth about Miguel's paternity and decides to confront Dita, she may not like the outcome.

Any woman who sees a fire racing towards her and decides to stay and embrace the flames instead of seeking safety is probably not someone that Emily wants to mess with.

On another note, let's talk about SAMCRO'S deadliest weapon, Happy Lowman.

Mayans M.C. Season 2 Episode 2 Review: Xaman - Ek

Poor Hap stayed strong and tight-lipped for as long as he could, but when Angel pulled the gun on his beloved dog it was over.

For anyone who follows David Labrava on social media, you know that he is an avid dog lover.

That was really cool how Kurt Sutter integrated David's real-life love for animals into his character.

The Happy we knew from Sons of Anarchy was stone cold, and the only person he ever revealed that scaared him was Gemma Teller.

But EZ and Angel finally managed to break him down -- even though it was by accident.

Secrets Are Revealed - Mayans M.C.

They tried their best at intimidation, torturing the truth out of him, but then they lost it and started fighting with each other.

Happy just laughed and shook his head. You can tell he was thinking "amateurs."

It's surprising that he took anything they said or did seriously after that.

Happy: The job came in through Packer.
Angel: San Bernadino?
Happy: Yeah, closest charter to the border.
EZ: It came from Mexico.
Happy: Yeah, that's all I know. Packer might have more details. He's anal about keeping records. But he won't have a name, don't work that way.
EZ: Tell us what happened.
Angel: Tell us.
Happy: I came in the back. Shop was closed, it was just your mom, your old man must have left a few minutes before.
EZ: To make deposits.
Happy: Your mom, she wasn't surprised.
Angel: What do you mean?
Happy: I've killed a lot of people. Some of them, you can feel the inevitability. They know its coming, your mom knew. I heard cars pulling up, I shot her in the neck and ran. After that, I hung out near the border, ready to hear if I should finish the job. Coming from Mexico, I figured it was one of the cartels. That night you chased me; I thought that's who you were, cleanup guy for the cartel. I got spooked. Didn't feel safe riding Nomad anymore. That's when I went to charming, patched into SAMCRO. If someone killed my mom, I'd put a bullet between his eyes.

It was hard to figure out who to root for. I absolutely did not want Happy to be killed, but I wanted EZ and Angel to discover the truth about their mother's death, as well.

So for the first time, thank you, Kurt Sutter, for not killing off a beloved character. Well, for now anyway.
