Awkward, which airs on MTV, is an irreverent look at the conflict, chaos and humor defining the life of a teenager in this modern world. We view this life from the view of 15-year-old Jenna Hamilton. Jenna's life changes dramatically when a simple accident is misconstrued as a suicide attempt and the epic proportions surrounding the story thrust her into an interesting place. Jenna narrates the series in the first person through her blog posts titled, (we bet you can't guess), "That Girl." Everyone who was ever a teenager will be able to identify with the issues and struggles of those incredibly painful, formative years. The series starts right after the accident in the aftermath that follows, including a stigma as the girl who wants to kill herself. You know, that girl. It's not a fun place to be and she doesn't treat it as such. While she's navigating this new "popularity" she's also dealing with other mundane dramas of the everyday life of a teenage girl. She's undermined by one of the mean girls when she has a secret relationship with one of the popular guys at school and suffers the fact that her parents just don't get it. Do any parents get it? Eventually, Jenna's misfortune will be the catalyst for great change. Unfortunately she has to stutter along with missteps and mishaps along the way.
