When Mr. Burns falls ill, only Bart has the rare blood type necessary to save him. However, Homer becomes upset when all Mr. Burns does is send him a thank you card.
Bart, Milhouse and Martin all pitch in to buy the first Radioactive Man comic. They prove unable to trust each other and end up destroying the comic.
When Homer gets drunk at a party, Marge forces him to go to marriage counseling retreat. While gone, Homer tries to catch a legendary catfish General Sherman only further upsetting Marge.
When Ms. Hoover is out sick, Lisa falls for her new substitute teacher, Mr. Bergstrom. Meanwhile, Bart runs for class president against Martin.
After discovering an old picture she painted of Ringo Starr, Marge takes an art class. Marge is eventually hired to paint Mr. Burns but portrays him as naked and frail.
Grampa falls for an old woman, Beatrice Simmons and when he goes to celebrate her birthday, Homer drags him away. Bea ends up dying that night, and Grampa blames Homer for costing him their final moments together.
When Santa's Little Helper destroys everything in the house, Homer sends him to obedience school. Just when the dog is about to fail out of obedience school, he bonds with Bart and passes.
Grampa tells Homer he has a half-brother, who he tracks down. He learns his brother is Herbert Powell (Danny DeVito), the head of a car manufacturer in Detroit. Herbert lets Homer design his own car which bankrupts the company.
Selma begs Marge to help her find a husband. When Bart gets in trouble, Homer has to talk to Principal Skinner who he decides to set up with Selma, only he falls for Patty instead.
Homer gets an illegal cable hookup and Lisa protests the stealing. When Homer's friends come over to watch a boxing match, Lisa's guilt eventually gets to Homer.
In a flashback, Marge tells the story of how she and Homer met in high school in 1974. The two meet in attention and Homer asks Marge to be his date to prom, but she ends up going with Artie Ziff (Jon Lovitz) instead.
When the Simpsons go to a sushi bar, Homer decides to try Fugu, a poisonous fish if not cut properly. Homer ends up going to the hospital and told he has 22 hours to live and tries to live his life to the fullest.
When Mr. Burns hits Bart with a car, Lionel Hutz (Phil Hartman) suggests that the Simpsons sue Burns. Hutz gets Bart to see the sketchy Dr. Nick Riviera.
After Maggie attacks Homer with a mallet, Marge blames the Itchy & Scratchy Show for the violence. Marge forms SNUH and gets the writers to tone down the violence, but soon the censorship gets out of control.
After going to a monster truck rally, Bart decides to become a daredevil himself. Things eventually lead to Bart wanting to jump the Springfield gorge.
After Bart is blamed for ruining the Simpsons family Thanksgiving, he runs away.
After becoming jealous of Ned, Homer places a bet that Bart will be Todd in a game of mini-golf. The loser will have to mow the other's lawn in their Sunday dress.
Homer becomes the mascot for the local minor league baseball team, the Springfield Isotopes and is eventually promoted to the big team in Capital City and forced to move.
After Bart catches a three-eyed fish in the river by the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant, the plant gets inspected and is fined for over $56 million. To avoid losing his plant, Mr. Burns runs for Governor.
The first Halloween special of The Simpsons features three stories: "Bad Dream House," "Hungry and the Damned," and the Edgar Allan Poe classic "The Raven."
Homer lies on a insurance form to get a new hair formula that works. After his new head of hair gets him a promotion, Smithers gets jealous and investigates.
When Bart fails a test he has one more chance to pass it or risk failing the fourth great. After praying for a miracle, Bart gets a blizzard and a chance to study.
